IFF24 The Godfather Part II

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of what is regarded as one the greatest sequels of all time, Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather Part II was released to widespread acclaim in 1974. Both a sequel and a prequel to the original film, it continues the saga of the Corleone crime family, focusing on Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) as he consolidates his power and navigates the challenges of running the family business while struggling with moral decay and personal betrayal. Interwoven with Michael's story is a parallel narrative exploring the early life of his father, Vito Corleone (Robert De Niro), tracing his rise from impoverished immigrant to powerful mob boss.
The film delves deeply into themes of power, corruption, and the generational impact of crime. Praised for its complex storyline and rich character development, the film won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.
These special anniversary screenings will be shown in a lavish 4K restoration, including an intermission, preserving the legacy of one of the greatest works in cinema history.

Note: The film will screen with a 10-minute intermission
