About the film
Director: Clint Eastwood
Actors: Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Clint Eastwood, Andy Garcia, Michael Peña, Dianne WiestClint Eastwood directs and stars in a gently paced thriller inspired by an outlandish true story of opportunistic criminal enterprise.
Adapted for the screen by Nick Schenk, who penned Eastwood's 2008 drama Gran Torino, The Mule tells the incredible story of Korean War veteran Earl Stone (Eastwood) who used to be a cause celebre in horticultural circles. Unfortunately, he failed to move with the times by investing in an online marketplace for his gold medal-winning lilies. The bank has foreclosed on Earl's home, a once-blooming business has wilted and his worldly possessions are crammed into the back of his pick-up truck.
So, Earl takes up a job ferrying hundreds of kilos of cocaine across Illinois without arousing the suspicions of law enforcement (it must that 88-year-old rascally charm). Before he knows it, he’s in far over his head, and a top DEA agent (Bradley Cooper) is jonesing to take him down.
A very cool cast featuring Laurence Fishburne as a special agent, and Michael Peña as the cartel’s enforcer, THE MULE is an intense true-life crime drama that shows that our golden years don’t always turn out quite like we imagined them. There a not one but two threesomes. You have been warned.
