This film is disturbing as hell.
Based on one of Stephen King’s bleakest books, PET SEMATARY follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke, SERENITY) who, upon getting a new job, moves to a small town in rural Maine with his wife (Amy Seimetz, ALIEN: COVENANT) and two children. The unsuspecting (well they would be, wouldn’t they?) family move to a secluded house in the woods, which just happens to be located right next to a burial ground. So naturally, when their cat dies, Louis decides to give it a proper burial in the mysterious cemetery near their new house. He soon uncovers the town's sinister secrets, which lead him and his family down a treacherous path that challenges the laws of man and threatens to unearth the unspeakable darkness that lies hidden in the woods.
With a strong cast (including the great John Lithgow) under the direction of filmmakers Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer (STARRY EYES), PET SEMATARY is a stark, terrifying reminder that sometimes it’s best not to dig up the past. Insert a few creepy children and we have a bloody terrifying film on our hands.
Good luck sleeping.
