About the film
Director: Shane Black
Actors: Jacob Tremblay, Trevante Rhodes, Boyd HolbrookThis is a Shane Black film, so of course the dialogue is going to be razor-sharp and filled with humour. Black has made his career injecting a heavy dose of comic irony into old genre standards. His directorial efforts include “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” and “The Nice Guys,” both sly riffs on L.A. noir, as well as the third and most subversive “Iron Man” movie. This time he brings his trademark action and wit, creating an entirely new kind of Predator movie with co-writer Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad).
The Predator was always the universe's deadliest hunter. But now, they've evolved, genetically augmenting their DNA to become even more lethal. And when young Rory Mckenna (Jacob Tremblay, WONDER) accidentally summons them to Earth, his former Marine father (Boyd Holbrook, NARCOS) and a ragtag team of fellow misfits and military rejects (who turn out to be almost as selfless and heroic as he is) must battle an impossible enemy to save humankind.
Things can get pretty hairy in the Predatorverse and this film has its fair share of entrails dangling from corpses, blood and general havoc with the Predators gutting, filleting and exploding people all over the shop.
Holbrook and Tremblay lead an ensemble cast that also includes Olivia Munn (X-Men) as the brainiac biologist , Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Sterling K. Brown (American Crime Story), and Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peele). With their powers and the Predator's combined, The Predator is an all-out ‘80s action throwback and smirking smart aleck comedy.
