About the film
Release Date: Jun 29, 2018
Director: Stefano Sollima
Actors: Josh Brolin, Benicio Del ToroSicario: Day of the Soldado, the sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s 2015 crime thriller about a secret border drug war between the United States government and Mexican cartel ramps up the violence and tension as well as provides gutsy performances from Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin.
Josh Brolin’s Matt Graver is summoned for a black-ops mission to set off a cartel war, and he quickly reunites with Alejandro (Del Toro). Their plan is to stage the kidnapping of a drug lord’s teenage daughter (Isabela Moner) make it look like the work of a rival, and let the bullets fly.
With Italian director Stefano Sollima (Suburra), Sicario: Day of the Soldado has a markedly different pace and texture than the first and Solmina showcases his own gritty way of building suspense.
Composer Hildur Guðnadóttir, who takes over from the late, sorely missed Jóhann Jóhannsson, provides an unsettling sonic backdrop to Soldado's already bleak saga.
Embrace the fear - this is high class, well choreographed, suspense-filled action.
