About the film
Director: Bob Persichetti
Actors: Nicolas Cage, Jake Johnson, Shameik Moore, Hailee SteinfeldIn our universe, there’s one Spider-Man. But in Miles Morales’ universe, Peter Parker is just one of many. This time, the spotlight falls on the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man: an Afro-Latino high-schooler (voiced by Shameik Moore). Bitten by that radioactive spider, he’s reluctantly tutored by the more jaded Peter Parker version (Jake Johnson), who’s been dropped in from a parallel dimension, complete with a broken heart and a burger belly.
SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE pushes the boundaries of animation to bring the wall-crawler to life in a whole new way. Rendered like a living illustration and featuring the voice talents of Shameik Moore (DOPE; THE GET DOWN), Hailee Steinfeld (EDGE OF SEVENTEEN), Jake Johnson (NEW GIRL), and Mahershala Ali (MOONLIGHT), SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE feels like stepping into a comic book.
Inevitably, those giddy Hollywood mavericks Phil Lord and Chris Miller (THE LEGO MOVIE) are involved – as co-writer and co-producer so expect a laugh. There's a cluster of other Spideys, including Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage) the anime Peni Parker, Spider-Gwen and, yes, Spider-Ham, each with multiple styles of animation sharing the frame.
Banksy jokes and a killer soundtrack make this a must see Christmas film for all ages.
