Director: James Kent
Actors: Jason Clarke, Keira Knightley, Alexander SkarsgårdWorld War II has ended, and Rachel Morgan (Keira Knightley, ATONEMENT) feels immense relief that her husband, Colonel Lewis Morgan (Jason Clarke, FIRST MAN), made it through alive. She reunites with him for a new life in Hamburg, as he’s been charged with helping to rebuild the city following its recent devastation.
The British government requisitions a grand, beautiful home for them, seizing it from a German architect, Stefan Lubert (Alexander Skarsgård, BIG LITTLE LIES) and his troubled young daughter. But Col. Morgan is an empathetic man, and he suggests that Stefan and his daughter be allowed to stay in the home with them.
Rachel feels deeply uncomfortable with this decision. But as Col. Morgan goes off to do his work, Rachel and Stefan get to know each other better. And as their understanding of each other deepens, so, too, does the lust that they feel for one another.
From director James Kent (TESTAMENT OF YOUTH) and producer Ridley Scott (ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD), THE AFTERMATH is an epic postwar tale of passion, duty, and the meaning of loyalty.
