About the film

Director: Danny Boyle
Actors: Lily James, Kate McKinnon, Himesh Patel, Ed Sheeran
Director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire), writer Richard Curtis (Love Actually) and the Beatles (well they’re the Beatles) has to be the ultimate trifecta.

Struggling musician Jack (Himesh Patel) gets hit by a bus during an inexplicable global blackout and wakes up to find he’s the only one in the world who knows who the Beatles are. The Beatles never happened. Imagine if you can.

So, Jack decides the key to his dream of stardom is to write down and perform these songs, passing them off as his own. Which of course they’re not and Jack is a fraud. In the meantime, Ed Sheeran thinks Jack is genius and he soon becomes the hottest name in music.

No Curtis-penned movie would be complete without a love interest and Lily James (Downton Abbey) is delightful as his kooky manager/bff.

Yesterday is a charming British Rom-Com and a true celebration of the Fab Four. I can guess what you’ll have on the playlist in the car on your way home.
