We believe that film can be a powerful educational tool for all ages - as well as being a valuable cultural experience in itself, watching a film can expand our experiences and understanding and help us to explore concepts and ideas that are new or challenging to us.
The Palace Nova team work closely with teachers, film festivals and partner organisations to deliver a diverse and exciting year-round program. We welcome over 40,000 people each year to our screenings and events, especially curated for Pre-School, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary.
Film and cineliteracy have an increasingly important role to play within the National Curriculum, aiding pupils’ learning and development throughout their formal education.
From documentaries that inform students and illuminate a subject, to dramas that help them make an emotional connection to and empathize with people with different life experiences than their own, learning by viewing, discussing, and critically engaging with film is an empowering skill and one that is increasingly important for young people.
Where possible, supporting teaching resources, introductions and/or post-film discussions are also provided.
Here's some helpful information on how these screenings work.
We are able to arrange screenings for school and community groups starting from 9.30am - 4.30pm, Mon-Fri (subject to availability).
We are pleased to be able to offer school groups discounted ticket prices, $10 per student with 1 teacher free per 20 students. Alternative content, film festival tickets and special screenings will incur additional costs. Please contact our event team for further details.
Food & Drink
If you would like to purchase drinks and snacks, this will need to be ordered in advance and we will then simply add the cost to your invoice when you are finalising your booking. We regret that no outside food or drink is permitted in the cinema.
